While at the Center, Daniela was broadly interested in investigating the relationship of the contemplative practice to epigenetic regulation mechanisms that might be able to protect and promote physical and psychological well-being. She was also interested in the impact of mindfulness-based practices on student and teacher well-being. At the Center, she was particularly interested in work that contributes to understanding psychological well-being and their genetic and epigenetic mechanisms.

Daniela has a diverse background. She is a neuroscientist and research affiliate at the Department of Pathology, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Brazil. Before joining the Center, she led her own project in neuroscience for education and mindfulness-based practices on teachers and students in Brazilian Public Schools.
