Across the globe, climate change has put people, animals, and plants in a constant state of movement. What do these shifts mean for our world? How are we taking action? Explore these questions and more with the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies’ Earth Day 2023: Species on the Move, happening April 18–19. With both in-person and virtual opportunities to learn and connect, you won’t want to miss it!
On Wednesday, April 19, Zoom in for a morning of virtual breakouts and plenary sessions.
Loka is organizing a virtual panel on April 19 as part of this event titled, “Seeking Sanctuary; Exploring Common Patterns in Why and How All Species Move.”
Like other animal species, humans have been on the move since the beginning of our history. This session explores why and how human and other animal species move, and what we can learn from those patterns. Movements we explore include climate displacement and refugees, Indigenous ways of moving and living with land and water, and spiritual and social pilgrimages.
Speakers include: Professor Sumudu Atapattu, Loka Director Dekila Chungyalpa and Dr. Brian McInnes. Register now for the in-person and virtual events.
